Each month, their first responder and firefighter support foundation directs 10% of net proceeds from Fire Dept. Coffee, as well as other charitable gifts, to support one or more worthy organizations or individual heroes in need.

Fire Dept. Coffee is a veteran-owned business dedicated to providing great-tasting coffee to people everywhere. Every order is freshly roasted in Rockford, Illinois, by a dedicated team of firefighters, first responders, and coffee connoisseurs.

Inspired by the vital role that coffee plays in helping firefighters stay alert and energized through long shifts, Fire Dept. Coffee was founded in 2016. • A Firefighter Farewell - A Tribute to Passaic Fallen FF Israel Tolentino Jr.

The 124th Annual NJ FMBA Convention ended this week and although it was a convention unlike any other for many obvious reasons, the NJ FMBA gave a final farewell to one of its fallen firefighters. NJ FMBA Peer Support Team Response to COVID-19

    Dear NJ FMBA Member,

In light of the recent events in our country, around the world and now in our own back yard with COVID-19 and the recent Pandemic as well as the STAY AT HOME Executive Order by Governor Murphy, the FMBA clinical team would like to extend all of our thoughts and prayers to you and your families. We realize that we are in unchartered waters and stressful times. The enemy we are fighting cannot be seen and we are taking extraordinary measures to protect our citizens, members and our families. During such times, there is a significant amount of fear and worry surrounding the Coronavirus or COVID-19. Primarily because of the unknown factors associated with this virus. High levels of anxiety are not uncommon during periods of uncertainty. It is essential that you control what you can and stay grounded in reality based on facts and real evidence not fear. Reassurance is an important antidote to fear and uncertainty. Knowing that we will get through these challenging times stronger than before is the true definition of Resilience.

    NJ FMBA FOUNDATION

OUR FIREFIGHTERS DEDICATE THEIR TIME AND THEIR LIVES IN THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE. NEW JERSEY FIREFIGHTERS ENJOY A PROUD TRADITION OF GIVING PHYSICALLY AND FINANCIALLY TO THOSE IN NEED.

The NJ FMBA Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and has raised millions of dollars in support of a number of charitable organizations including: St. Barnabas Burn Center, Children’s Burn Camp, Rebuilding Warriors, Mark A. Virag Memorial Cancer Fund, Eden Autism, Autism Speaks, Autism NJ, Susan. G Komen Foundation, Save the Children, along with victims of fire and natural disasters.

The members of the NJ State FMBA are committed to helping others both on and off the job. With the help of our locals, districts, members and supporters the NJ FMBA Foundation will continue to support other charities and families in need. See below for more information.

The NJFMBA Co-founded The Atlantic Regional Firefighters Foundation along with many east coast fire organizations in order to support a burn survivor’s camp for children. For 10 years now the NJFMBA has participated in, financially supported, and physically interacted with young burn survivors who re-define courage for us all. Over $100,000 has been raised to support our young heroes by membership dues and charitable contributions to the NJFMBA Foundation.

Over $500,000 was raised by the NJFMBA for Save The Children to support the relief effort after Hurricane Rita and Katrina in the Gulf. The NJFMBA membership continues to work closely with Save The Children to positively impact the lives of children around the world.

Eden Autism Services, Autism Speaks, and Autism NJ: The NJFMBA has partnered with Eden Autism Services, Autism Speaks, and Autism NJ to create a fundraising event called F.L.A.S.H. in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Firefighters attend a weekend golf tournament to support children and families with Autism. This year’s event raised $30,500 . Next year’s event is scheduled for October 14th to 18th.

Since the events of September 11th, the members of the NJ FMBA have realized the ever present need for an assistance program to help rebuild the lives of families left behind by fallen firefighters. A Foundation was established to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of our brothers and sisters and all the lives lost that day in solemn celebration of their memories. Each year, on or near the anniversary date, the Fallen Heroes 5K Memorial Race is held. The race was originally in the City of Elizabeth, ending at the waterfront in the shadow of the New York City skyline, and now at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como. The proceeds raised from this annual event directly support the mission of the FMBA Foundation which is the charitable arm of the NJ FMBA. The NJ FMBA Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization and has raised millions of dollars in support of a number of charitable organizations including: Susan G. Komen Foundation, Save the Children, Eden Autism Services, Autism Speaks, Where Angels Play Foundation,Rebuilding Warriors, Wounded Warriors, Brennan Stands Alone, The Mark A. Virag Memorial Cancer Fund, and the Saint Barnabas Burn Center. In addition to the Fallen Heroes 5K, the FMBA runs a corporate golf outing each spring to raise funds for the FMBA Foundation, proceeds from the golf outing help the foundation offset the cost of the NJ FMBA Scholarship program.

    About Us

    Mission Statement

It is the mission of the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association to represent, protect, and educate the Firefighters, EMTs, and Dispatchers throughout the State of New Jersey through representation at the local, state, and federal level. To advocate on the publics' behalf for legislation that protects both our citizens' and first responders' safety. To protect and maintain the health benefits, pensions, staffing, and any other benefit negotiated for our members through collective bargaining.

This Mission Statement was adopted by a majority vote by the NJ FMBA Executive Delegates at the 123rd Annual Convention on September 17, 2019.

The New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association was first organized and established on December 11, 1897, at the first annual convention held in Jersey City, NJ. At that seemingly uneventful gathering, whereupon only six original member locals: Jersey City, Paterson, Hoboken, Newark, Trenton and Camden, united to incorporate under the banner of the New Jersey State FMBA, birth was given to a new era in the history of the career fire service in New Jersey. In retrospect, it is, at best difficult, to estimate if our founding fathers possessed full awareness of the time enduring significance and the tremendous positive impact this organization was destined to have upon its members, their families and the general public throughout the decades to follow. Given that particularly industrious point of our society’s growth and development, the time was prefect to organize such an association. And organize they did. By 1907, less than a decade from its inception, local membership doubled from six to twelve locals, with total membership increasing to 1,157. Today with 107 Fire, EMS, and Dispatcher locals on its roster, the New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association proudly maintains an active membership of over 5,000 career personnel.
