my house burnt down on March 13, 2021 in Swedesboro New Jersey, My fiancee and I lost everything even our car due to an electrical fire that started in our garage we were lucky enough to have a off duty fire man driving by who seen the smoke and flames billowing from our garage and kitchen whom had no thought of his own life and kicked our door in ran upstairs while we were asleep in our bedroom we never heard the smoke detectors going off due to our bedroom door closed and tv on. Daily I thank GOD for this man and wish I knew his name so we could show him our thanks better then we could tell him. We are currently staying in and out of homeless shelters due to the fact we can not afford a hotel daily and our landlord is from India and was currently in the states on a visa and NOW is nowhere to be found in our time of need the fire marshal has given us copies of the fire report and contacts me weekly to see if we have any contact with him yet as of today April 28, 2021 still have had no contact with this man. We have been to the soup kitchens and food pantries and I have reached out to Fema with them stating they can not help us. Red cross donated $500.00 dollars that we used to stay in a hotel and buy basic necessities like underwear bras toiletries etc. I am not to proud to ask for help my fiancee and I are begging for it . We are working with our local Catholic Charities to find a new rental these rentals want me to make 3times the monthly rent of $1300 a month with no transportation and bus route or money for a Lyft or Uber I have no hope I see in my near future. I leave the shelters in the morning and stand in front of our local Home Depot or Lowes hoping and trying to get day labor to try and put a roof over our heads at night with a warm shower and maybe a nice hot meal most days

I walk back with no work and more depressed then the day before. I am running out of hope and pray that something good will happen for us. I thank you for your time.

    MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the New Jersey State FMBA is to educate, involve, and affect those civilians who reside and work in New Jersey to adopt fire safety practices and procedures that prevent and mitigate human and economic losses arising from the devastating effects of fire.

The New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association was first organized and established on December 11, 1897, at the first annual convention held in Jersey City, NJ. At that seemingly uneventful gathering, whereupon only six original member locals: Jersey City, Paterson, Hoboken, Newark, Trenton and Camden, united to incorporate under the banner of the New Jersey State FMBA, birth was given to a new era in the history of the career fire service in New Jersey. In retrospect, it is, at best difficult, to estimate if our founding fathers possessed full awareness of the time enduring significance and the tremendous positive impact this organization was destined to have upon its members, their families and the general public throughout the decades to follow. Given that particularly industrious point of our society’s growth and development, the time was prefect to organize such an association. And organize they did. By 1907, less than a decade from its inception, local membership doubled from six to twelve locals, with total membership increasing to 1,157. Today with 107 Fire, EMS, and Dispatcher locals on its roster, the New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association proudly maintains an active membership of over 5,000 career personnel.
