Perceived Health Risks Amongst Firefighters

A few years back, members of the NJ FMBA participated in survey regarding perceived health risks of firefighters. The survey was conducted by Iris Udasin, MD and the Rutgers Environmental Occupational Health Sciences Institute.

The data collected from the survey was analyzed to determine if firefighters’ perceived health risks and the actual risk of chronic disease in firefighters were aligned. Dr. Udasin and colleagues produced an article to address the results. The article was published in the April 2021 issue of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

This is another clear example of the influence of the New Jersey State FMBA.  The NJ FMBA prides itself on its relationships across New Jersey and our country to be sure we continue to be the loud and clear voice for New Jersey firefighters, EMTs, and dispatchers.

On behalf of our over 5500 members, we say thank you to Dr. Udasin and her colleagues on this much needed research.
