PFRSNJ Approves Retirement Benefit Enhancement
On July 4th, 2018 New Jersey’s Fire and Police gained its pension independence. The NJFMBA and NJ State PBA brought all of public safety together for this monumental piece of Legislation. Today we staked our ground again with our board of trustees following through and voting for a strategy brought to them by the NJFMBA to provide a benefit enhancement to our retirees.
All retirees and beneficiaries out 25 months by July 1, 2026 will receive a one time “13th check” for $3700!
This is a huge step and a great start following through on a promise made by your Union to help our most vulnerable. The NJFMBA will continue to work with our legislators to fully fund a cost of living increase.
We will monitor the progress and keep our members up-to-date as to when they can expect a payment.
