New legislation introduced to allow retired first responders to buy into Medicare

(Washington, DC) Today, Representative Tom Malinowski (NJ-7) introduced the Expanding Health Care Options for Early Retirees Act, a bill to allow retired first responders—including police officers, firefighters, and EMTs—to buy into Medicare beginning at age 50. He was joined by lead original cosponsor Representative Harley Rouda (CA-48). Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio introduced the companion measure in the Senate.

True Independence for Firefighters and Police Officers

The PFRS transfer from State control to the control of the stakeholders of the PFRS was completed on July 5th, 2019. Fittingly one day after our Nation celebrated our Independence from British rule. The days of the PFRS pension fund being raided are over, we can say with confidence that every decision made will be made for the betterment of the fund and the goal is to restore the health of a fund that was once 100% funded in the early 2000's.  


Ceremony to Rename Paterson Fire Headquarters for Long Serving Congressman Bill Pascrell Set for Monday

Paterson Fire Headquarters was built with federal dollars secured by Congressman Bill Pascrell, and, at an event scheduled for noon on Monday, the modern facility on McBride Ave. is set to be renamed in his honor.
